Late Summer Trail Droppings
Well it’s been another busy summer for members getting out and either testing themselves on their first-ever trail run or attempting to complete the Ultra Grand Slam (one more to go, Norm!) and everything in-between. Congratulations to all of you that have kept to your promises and goals and gotten out there to enjoy all that Ma Nature has to offer. And for the rest of you lazy critters (you know who you are!), it’s time to come join your fellow Animals on a training run, hop in a trail race – be it your first or 100th – or volunteer your time working on the trails or helping out at a race or two.
We try and spare you guys a barrage of emails. Thus, the only way to check out the latest about our weekly runs is to join our Facebook page where we members usually post messages about runs and other fun events, share info about equipment and their favorite trails and just plain razz each other with some friendly trail banter. You can join for free here: https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/218926370297/.
Weekly Trail Runs
We continue to offer two standing weekend runs: one in the Middlesex Fells and one in the Blue Hills. To learn more go here: http://www.trailanimals.com/about/.
This race is filling quickly so if you are thinking about running a trail race this fall, this may be your ticket. It’s an ideal run for first-timers – a relatively gentle terrain on single track trail – and a barn burner for more experienced trail racers. We offer 10K, half, full marathon and 50K distances. The course is located in Lexington, MA, and for $16.50, any distance, you won’t find more convenience and better value per mile in New England! To sign up go here: http://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=14070.
This one is sold out. But see below for our need for volunteers.
Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to help out at the Fall Classic (Oct 8th in Lexington) and/or TARC Fells Winter Trail Ultra (Dec 3rd in Winchester). Please email us at imbc@comcast.net if you’d like to help us out with aid stations, trail marking and monitoring, scoring, registration or set up/clean up – it’s fun and a great way to give back. We will be happy to sign for volunteer hours if you need to get hours in for an upcoming race.
That’s all the poop for now. See you on the trails soon.
