TARC 100 & 50 OPEN REGISTRATION
Calling all TARC Critters,
We’ve a special pre-holiday opportunity for all TARC members. Starting today, we’ve opened registration 30 days early for the brand spanking new TARC 100 Mile Endurance Run – the first-ever 100 mile trail run in Massachusetts – and the accompanying TARC 50 miler. We’ve successfully secured all the permits to stage this exciting addition to the TARC Trail Series. The bucolic and convenient woods of Weston, Mass. will be our hosts. You can register now here. We anticipate this run(s) will be very popular so encourage you to register early. TARC continues to follow our mission of making trail running accessible to as many people as possible. This means convenient, welcoming, community oriented and inexpensive. You’ll find all those elements here and more….. the highlights:
- Friday, June 14, 2013 7:00 pm; Weston, MA
- Great course for setting PR, first-time 50 or 100 miles or qualifier for other ultras

- Located just 20 minutes from Downtown Boston, easy access from I95, I93 or Mass Pike
- At $60, one of the two least expensive 100 milers in the country (the other is TARC Ghost Train!); 50 mile is also $60
- Technical t-shirt for every participant, included in the price
- For 100 mile finishers, a snappy finisher’s jacket – men and women styles, from our partner and friends at Green Layer®, included in the price

- Pacers allowed for 100 miler start at mile 50; 30 hour cutoff, 12 hour for 50 mile

Is the 10,000′ elevation change for 100 miles? Thanks.
That’s correct
Is there a list of registered runners posted somewhere? I don’t see a list on ultrasignup.com. I registered for the 100 yesterday and I’m looking forward to it. Thanks.
The list will become public early next year

My husband and a friend of ours are thinking about doing this race in our training for the VT100, and we wondered if it would be alright to sign up for the 50M race, but then do an extra lap (as opposed to signing up for the 100M and then dropping out early)?
Yes indeed you can. Just let us know you are heading out on the course for another loop after you finish the 50 so we can keep track of you.
Bob,
I just signed up for the 100. (Only 57 spots left, better get on it, folks!) I’d like a spot to camp, if you’ve got any left.
Thanks.
ps. Nice bargain. At 60 cents per mile, this absolutely rocks McDermott’s Rule of Running Economics.
You got it
How big is the field for each of the races? I couldn’t find a number on your site.
for the 100 miler 150-200
I am signed up for the 50, would I be able to switch to the 100?
You bet I’m in. See y’all there. And hey, let’s get up some training runs on the course starting in March!
Will you be looking for volunteer pacers? If so, let me know!
When I signed up, I said “No” on the buckle. I’m reconsidering, especially if it has a Yeti on it. Providing I finish the race, of course.

David – no Yeti on the buckle but we may have some extra for sale when you finish – good luck!
Is there any information out there on the Weston course? I would love to check it out!
Thank you!

Any Canadian will be there???
A few!
[...] Although the Green Papaya Marathon was run at easy pace, it was still a struggle for the first 8 miles, as I was not recovered fully from Black Panther Marathon and racing The Ras in the prior week. Still, I finally warmed up as the temperatures followed suit — or maybe it was the other way around. Finished feeling fairly strong but definitely in control with the ability to keep going, which bodes well for my shot at the Boston Double and, a few months later, TARC 100. [...]

Has anything been firmed up on camping at the site or nearby (for pacers – provided I can find one or two…).
Also, I noted there are no showers, is there lodging closeby?
Thanks!

Patti,
There is camping near the start/finish area on a first come-first serve basis. Plenty of room but no open fires. The best way to locate a motel/hotel nearby is to google Weston, MA and search for nearby hotels – of which there are numerous within 15 minutes of the race in Waltham and Newton.
